Oracle Lifetime Support Policy Changes

Performing Databases

By effect of Februar 2nd, 2017 Oracle changed the lifetime support policies regarding Database 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2:

11.2.0.4 Extended Support

Ends: Dec-2020
Extended Support fees are waived from Jan-2015 to 31-Dec-2018
See Oracle Software Technical Support Policies – look for “Exceptions” in Section 3 – Lifetime Support Policy.

Patching for 11.2.0.1 ended on 13/Sep/2011
Patching for 11.2.0.2 ended on 31/Oct/2013
Patching for 11.2.0.3 ended on 27/Aug/2015 – See Note:742060.1

12.1.0.2 Extended Support

Ends: Jul 2021

Extended Support fees are waived for the period of August 2018 – July 2019.
See Oracle Software Technical Support Policies – look for “Exceptions” in Section 3 – Lifetime Support Policy.

Patching for 12.1.0.1 ended on 31-Aug-2016

Summary

Customers now can operate 11.2.0.4 until end of 2018 without extra support cost, as long as they have a valid “Software, Update License and Support” contract.

As of today, 12.1.0.2 is only under regular-cost support for 6 months more. If 12.2.0.1 is really released for on-premises March 15th, that should do.
